Sweet Thunder Jazz Orchestra is a 13 piece band based in Queensland on the Gold Coast. It is dedicated to recreating authentic music from the classic big band era, which we often refer to as the pre-swing era, and is equally adept at producing sounds from the modern era. The focus is on exciting sounds and high energy big band music which may have typically come from the Cotton Club and other high profile clubs of the era. The band features a unique repertoire, from Duke Ellington’s Jungle music to modern day masters such as Quincy Jones or John Clayton. Exceptionally tight ensemble playing and great soloists means this hugely experienced and energetic band is not to be missed.
